Mr. Carney’s High School Agriscience class joined other Kansas students in Topeka for the first annual SunPowered Student Challenge. The SunPowered Student Challenge is a statewide solar energy competition consisting of 11 student teams from across Kansas- as far west as Colby and as far east as Fort Scott.
The teams performed real-time challenges, presented findings, and proved their solar energy knowledge to industry professionals. This first annual challenge was such a success that the SunPowered founders are already planning for SunPowered 2025 and expanding to additional states.
The CHS Team consisted of Zane Gray, Jake Palmgren, McCager Wright, and Mr. Carney as the instructor/sponsor. Out of the six categories that were judged, our CHS team received 2nd Place for Skills Challenges, 1st Place for Team Brand and Creative Curb Appeal, and 3rd Place for Logbook. Overall, out of 11 student teams, our CHS Team took 2nd Place.
Great job, Team CHS, on applying the knowledge and skills you gained in Mr. Carney’s class during the SunPowered Challenge!
Way to represent Colby High School!
