CHS Juniors and Seniors who are attending prom on July 11th. There will be an important informational meeting with the prom sponsors on Wednesday, July 8th at 8:00 pm at the big gazebo at Fike Park. Please plan to attend this short meeting.
With prom and graduation approaching, we wanted to share our excitement and our concerns as we move forward. We feel it is important the students get to experience and celebrate these milestones and we will do what we can to make it a safe and fun experience. We will hold the promenade at Fike Park so parents and community members have plenty of room to social distance while still supporting our students. This area should allow for room to get pictures of the prom goers. Students are to arrive at the park at 5:30 pm. Additional information will be sent out through School Messenger for students regarding a short meeting to go over event details. We want students and parents to be aware of possible scenarios. There is a chance that if students were exposed at prom they could be asked to quarantine and would therefore have to miss the graduation ceremony which will be held the following weekend. We ask that you all take some time to discuss this risk with your student and make the decision together. Plum Creek and Purdy Petals have been very easy to work with and don’t want to charge students if for some reason we would have to change our plans. Please communicate with them as to when they need to cancel orders without being charged. There is a chance that if we have to change plans at the last minute because of a rise in school or community positive cases that students will have to pay for these orders. Again, please discuss this possibility with your student. We are looking forward to celebrating our CHS students and hate to be negative, but want to be ready for the possibility. Updated Weight Room Regulations Due to current COVID-19 exposure investigations in our county we are changing the way the weight room operates. We have been instructed to go back to social distancing which means that students should not be closer than 6 feet for more than 10 minutes. The weight room will be arranged to have the weight racks stationed 6 feet apart so that an individual can have their own workspace. Weights and stations will be sanitized after each use. Students will also be socially distanced in the gym for agilities. Also, because we have such great numbers in attendance we will return to staggered times. Seniors: 6:00-6:40 am Juniors: 6:50-7:30am Sophomores: 7:40-8:20am Freshman: 8:30-9:10 am 7th & 8th grade 9:20-10:00 am If your child is displaying any COVID-19 symptoms do not allow them to participate. If you or your child has been exposed to anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19, do not allow your child to participate. Please practice diligent hand washing and personal hygiene.

Mr. Ross is retiring after 29 years with Colby Public Schools! Yeah, he came here clear back in 1991! That’s like FOREVER ago! For crying out loud, a postage stamp only cost .25 way back then. So here’s what we are going to do to wish him well! We are having a “Drive By and Wave Goodbye” on Friday, June 19 from 11:30 – 12:30 during the lunch pick up. Swing by the Middle School during that time and as you drive by, give Mr. Ross a big wave! You don’t have to be picking up a lunch, come on by anyway. A lot of us should probably stop and thank him for putting up with us for all those years, but a hearty wave goodbye will work better. Let’s see how many people we can get to come by in that hour to show how much we appreciate Mr. Ross and everything he has done for us over the years. See you Friday, CPS administration, faculty, and staff
