Students Tour Waste Water Treatment Plant
Approximately 25 middle and high school technology students
toured the new wastewater treatment plant east of Colby. Technology
Director Mike Albers and Plant Manager Chad Applebury guided the
students through the tour with assistants Mike McLaughlin and Kevin
Puckett helping.
The new wastewater treatment plant provides the citizens of Colby
with a facility utilizing state of the art technology. The
increased capacity of the plant has been designed to efficiently
meet the community’s current needs and can be expanded to meet
future growth.
Mike Albers stressed the importance of math, science and technology
classes to the students.
“The one point I might re-address with the tour group is the
fact that today, technology infrastructure is found in areas not
normally associated with that process. Future advancements will
work to push technology into greater areas of our life. This will
drive the need for more skilled high-tech jobs. High school
students interested in working in the technology field should take
advantage of all the math, science and high-tech classes offered to
them. We enjoyed the opportunity to interact with the class and
answer their
questions during the tour,” Albers said.
The students were accompanied by facilitators Teresa Morgan and Lamoreaux Fulwider.
