School Board Recognition Month

Colby Public Schools Board Members Leading for Success

January is School Board Recognition Month, a great opportunity to say “thank you” to the Colby Public Schools Board of Education who are committed to the success of every student in our community.

Effective January 13, 2020, USD 315 Board of Education members are Shelby Barnett, Brice Barton, Tricia Carney, Janice Frahm, Larry Gabel, Kris Lemman, and Brandi Wark.

These seven community leaders volunteer hundreds of hours attending local, regional and state meetings, reading reports and discussing plans and programs to support our students’ educational achievements and character development.

“Our board members develop policies and make complex decisions that shape the future of our education system. They are accountable for an annual budget totaling $15 million, 900 students, and 200 employees,” said Superintendent Katina Brenn.

A board member’s responsibility goes far beyond the monthly meetings. “Board members meet with legislators and other policy makers to advocate for our schools to make sure every child has access to an excellent education. We want to take this opportunity to publicly say ‘thank you’ to them,” said Brenn.

Please take a moment to thank a school board member, not only this month, but throughout the year.
